How to Install an Antivirus Program

Having an antivirus program in your computer system is must. It will protect your system from viruses and other harmful programs that have the capacity to destroy it. Any suspicious program will be detected by your antivirus and it will automatically perform its function. It may delete or totally removed the suspicious object or if not, it will separate it or quarantine it. The suspicious program will be placed in a safe place separated to the system to prevent it from harming the entire computer. Thus, the value of an antivirus program is indispensable.

Some antivirus program is already installed to a brand new computer or laptop. But most of the time, a computer or laptop originally doesn’t come with an antivirus program when you buy one. You have to buy an authentic antivirus cd and it will cost you a couple of dollars.

After having a cd, the next thing to do is to install the program. But how do you install the program? Not all of us know how to install an antivirus program. But it is just a piece of cake. Usually, when you insert the cd to the cd rom of your computer, there is a system called the Autoplay or Auto Run. Then all you have to do is just follow the instructions or the steps on the screen. If the cd does not run by itself after inserting it to the rom, then all you have to do is to initiate it to run by opening the cd (clicking the D: or the E: ) portion, you can see this when you open the My Computer icon. Just double click the CD icon then follow the steps. The computer will ask you to enter a password or a cd key for the program to be installed. It is usually located at the back cd case that you bought. I think this is only possible for the original cd, not the pirated ones. After the installation, some computer will ask you to restart or reboot your system for the effect or the newly installed program to function normally. Also, the system will ask you to connect to the internet to check for the latest updates for your antivirus program. Once connected, the update for your virus definitions will be automatically downloaded to the system.

If you can’t afford to buy the cd of an antivirus program, you can actually download an antivirus program on the internet for free. I think these are just effective for a couple of months. It is the trial version of the antivirus program. After the trial version expires, it will prompt you to buy the original cd. But at least, you used it for a couple of months for free.
